Editorial Standards
Accuracy. Fairness. Independence. Accountability.
Accuracy
We verify before we publish. Sources are named whenever possible; anonymous sources are only used when the information is in the public interest and cannot be obtained otherwise, and only with approval from a senior editor.
Fairness
People and organisations criticised in our reporting are given a genuine opportunity to respond before publication. We distinguish clearly between news, analysis, and opinion.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by the newsroom, not by advertisers, funders, or political actors. See our Ownership & Funding disclosure.
Accountability
We correct errors openly and quickly under our Corrections Policy. Reader complaints are reviewed by the editor and answered in writing.
Bilingual reporting
English and Urdu editions are held to the same standards. Urdu translations of English-language reports are reviewed by a bilingual editor for accuracy and tone.
